I start with a bold statement. Not only is the new album Elveniga by the French band Weend’ô musically one of the best albums I listened to this year, but it is is certainly the best sounding album. The mix by drummer Nathaniël Buis is absolutely phenomenal. Although the songs can be heavy, the transparency is brilliant. Each instrument is exactly where it should be. The band members get all the space they need and combined with the stunning vocals by Laetitia Chaudemanche Hayle, who was also responsible for the lyrics, makes this an epic album!

Guitarist Térence N’guyen Van has an melodic style of playing that grabs your attention immediately. Bassplayer Maxime Rami lays down a foundation for everyone to shine en that makes him shine himself. The drumparts by Nathaniël Buis are are fantastic. Laetitia doubles on keyboards and they play an essental atmospheric role in the songs. 
Is that enough praise? No, the quality of the songs is brilliant. Inspired by the energy and visual aesthetic of manga epics the bands takes you on a musical trip. A great example is the absolutely beautiful song Ayleen where besides Laetitia’s stunning vocals the acoustic and electric guitars of Térence excel. It starts subtle and builds up in sound and volume and gives you goosebumps allover. Yes, that good. But to be honest, all the songs are great.

I couldn’t stop listening to this album from the moment I got it.

To describe Elveniga in a few words? You can call this album super melodic subtle metal.

Weend’ô did something very, very special. Absolutely brilliant!
