OAK - ParkVilla Theater

Alphen a/d Rijn 18 september 2026

OAK

I’ll be honest: I had heard of the Norwegian band OAK, but I wasn’t familiar with their music. So their show in the lovely ParkVilla Theater in Alphen aan den Rijn was a first for me—and I certainly hope it won't be the last! These guys are good!

They were originally scheduled to play in Alphen back in May, but the show had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Lenne Huisman of Serious Music—a big fan himself—pulled out all the stops to reschedule, and it paid off. The band caught an early flight, setting off at 4:00 AM to ensure they made it to Alphen on time. Everything went smoothly: a solid soundcheck, some pizza, a little rest, and then they hit the stage for two incredible one-hour sets.

Simen Valldal Johannessen (vocals and keys), Milad Amouzegar (guitar and backing vocals), Øystein Sootholtet (bass and backing vocals), and drummer Sigbjørn Reiakvam are fantastic musicians, and their music was nothing short of mesmerizing. Beautiful songs, often featuring three-part vocal harmonies blending seamlessly—what more could you ask for?

A standing ovation from the appreciative crowd gave the band a warm send-off back to Norway. They'll be traveling back a bit lighter, too, as merch sales were fantastic—and thoroughly deserved.

It was another brilliant evening brought to us by Serious Music. ParkVilla has truly become a prog temple.
