Nick Fletcher – An Unfolding of Miracles

Self-Released

If you like jazz-rock, you will absolutely love this new album by Nick Fletcher.

An Unfolding of Miracles was inspired by the writings of Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung. While there are no lyrics to directly prove the connection, the music feels undeniably inspired. Nick Fletcher is a deeply accomplished guitarist, a fact he demonstrates immediately on the beautiful, short opener, "Song of Acceptance."

Phenomenal Italian drummer Roberto Porta kicks off the second track, "To Be Seen, To Be Heard," and from there, we are off! Jonathan Ihlenfeld Cuniado delivers fantastic basslines throughout the entire album—just listen to his fretless work on "Light of Becoming."

Although the album is entirely instrumental in terms of lyrics, Russian singer Olga "Dikajee" Karpova contributes gorgeous vocalizations to three tracks. Her vocals blend seamlessly into the music, giving those songs an extra touch of class.

The production by Fletcher himself and Caroline Bonnet (also on Keys) is outstanding. Fletcher composed and arranged every single track, playing all guitars, guitar synth, and Angel Vibe guitar—even taking over bass duties on "Unravelling of Illusions."

Fletcher is easily one of the greatest British jazz-rock guitarists, and I have no hesitation placing him in the same tier as Allan Holdsworth and John Etheridge. His playing is brilliant, his compositions are superb, and there is so much depth to explore here. I absolutely love this album.

Jazz festivals, take note: book this man. He's fantastic!
