Imaginaerium, the project of Clive Nolan and Laura Piazzai, is back with a new album, "SIEGE." A concept album with various songs on the theme of "Siege." From the Roman Empire to the present day, there are sieges that we all encounter in our daily lives.

This new album was composed and arranged by Clive Nolan. He wrote the lyrics and plays all the keyboards. Clive is also one of the vocalists. Laura Piazzai handles the main lead and backing vocals; Luis Nasser plays bass; Mirko Sangrigoli is on drums and electric guitar; and Simone Milliava shines on electric and acoustic guitar.

Compared to the previous album, "The Rise of Medici," Laura Piazzai's role has become much more prominent. And rightly so, she sings brilliantly with her powerful and subtle vocals. In the opener, "Cry Boudica!", Laura sounds as if she's leading a battalion of warriors onto a battlefield. Laura plays Boudica, the queen of the Iceni, who rebelled against the Roman occupation of Britain. A brilliant start to a beautiful album. All the musicians deliver top performances on this album, with the young Simone Milliava delivering several stunning solos.

"To the Victor Go the Spoils" is an instrumental track, with Laura providing vocal incantations amidst the pounding drums, orchestrations, acoustic guitar, heavy bass, and flute. Clive's synthesizer playing in the middle of the track is of the class for which he is famous for. It would be impossible to describe all the songs. This is an album to be experienced and where you'll constantly discover new things. It's powerful and subtle, it remains captivating and moving.

And then there's a second CD with some new songs and songs that reappear in different versions. A wonderful addition.

Siege is even better than The Rise of Medici. Clive Nolan's compositions are fantastic, and Laura Piazzai is given every opportunity to showcase her talent. What a wealth of sounds, compositions, and musical talent!
