Born From Lie – Into Madness

Born From Lie – Into Madness
Self-Released
Man, oh man, this is good! Born From Lie originated as a band from Paris, but today it is the solo project of Jérôme Thellier. He describes his sound as melodic metal, and that hits the nail right on the head.
Into Madness takes you on a journey through eight tracks characterized by beautiful clean vocals contrasted with intense, heavy delivery. If I had to make a comparison, System of a Down immediately comes to mind. Thellier’s basslines and especially his guitar work are breathtaking at times. Furthermore, I was completely blown away by the sublime drumming of Jesse Haddad—what a powerhouse behind the kit!
Thellier is further supported by violinist Coline Verger and cellist Quentin Fauré, who also took care of the string arrangements.
The album opens with a whispered voice and a subtly distorted guitar before the 11-minute track "Silence" unleashes its full force. The strings on this track are simply gorgeous. Most of the other songs run for about six minutes and hold your attention from the very first second to the last.
I was absolutely blown away by this fantastic record. The dynamic tempo shifts and the balance between heavy and delicate moments are brilliant. Just listen to the violin and cello intro on "Just a Child," a track that builds up to a powerful climax. Magnificent. Into Madness is a top-tier production—turn this one up loud!
