Alex Mari – Origins

Self-Released

Italian musician Alex Mari is best known for his work with Barock Project. For his debut solo album, Origins, he revisited and updated 13 songs written over the years, completely updating old demos with fresh arrangements.

Mari showcases his impressive musical talent throughout the record, handling vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards, and programming, accompanied by drummer Paolo Caridi. Origins proves Mari is a highly educated musician with a clear vision: these songs simply rock! The album is packed with rich, fantastic arrangements, beautiful guitar work (notably on "Ancestral Whispers"), lush keyboards, and piano lines that add subtle, elegant accents.

And then there is that voice! This guy can truly sing—delivering powerful, soaring leads one moment and tender, subtle touches the next. He handles all backing vocals himself, layering gorgeous harmonies throughout the record. Across its 13 tracks, Origins shifts seamlessly between progressive rock touches and fantastic, bombastic energy, but above all, it rocks like hell.

Alex Mari has it all: he is a true multi-instrumentalist, a brilliant songwriter, and a vocalist extraordinaire. In Paolo Caridi,he chose the perfect drummer to elevate these tracks, bringing sublime power and technical finesse to every groove.

Technically and musically stunning, Origins is an absolute gem. It is available on all major streaming platforms—do yourself a favor and give it a listen. Alex truly deserves the spotlight!
